1. Acceptance of Terms

By connecting to the InvestJournal MCP server ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

The InvestJournal MCP server provides AI assistants (such as Claude) with OAuth-scoped access to your stock research data, including stocks, daily market price history, DCF valuations, financial ratios, watchlists, comments, alerts, your own custom metrics, and uploaded documents. Read-only by default; opt-in tools allow your AI assistant to create and manage watchlists, save, delete and annotate DCF valuations, write, edit and delete comments, create and update investment theses (with automatic revision history), create and manage price alerts, record and delete your own custom metrics (private figures such as backlog or store count, kept separate from the app's sourced financial data), and (for admin users only) update financial ratios, manage the tracked stock universe and news items, and file news-review digests. A read-only WhoAmI tool reports which account the session is signed in as. Every write tool operates exclusively on data you own.

3. Account Requirements

• You must have a valid InvestJournal account to use the Service.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
• You must not share your access tokens with others.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to:

• Use the Service only for its intended purpose of accessing your own stock research data via AI assistants.
• Not attempt to access data belonging to other users.
• Not use the Service to perform automated scraping or bulk data extraction.
• Not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or circumvent any security measures of the Service.

The Service applies a per-user rate limit (default 60 requests per minute) on the MCP endpoint to prevent abuse and protect downstream resources.

5. Data and Content

• All data accessed through the MCP server remains your property.
• Tools that modify data (watchlists, DCF valuations, comments, investment theses, alerts, ratios, custom metrics) are explicitly flagged in the MCP catalog as destructiveHint: true for delete/replace or readOnlyHint: false for additive create. Your AI assistant will surface these distinctions when proposing actions.
• You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter into InvestJournal and for any modifications your AI assistant makes on your behalf.

6. Third-Party Services

The AskDocument tool uses the Google Gemini API to process RAG queries. By using this tool, you acknowledge that your queries and relevant document content will be sent to Google. See our Privacy Policy for details.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

• InvestJournal is a personal research tool — it does not provide financial advice.
• DCF valuations, financial ratios, and other analyses are based on user-provided inputs and should not be considered professional investment advice.
• We make no guarantees about the availability or uptime of the MCP server.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, INVESTJOURNAL AND ITS DEVELOPERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO INVESTMENT LOSSES BASED ON DATA PROVIDED BY THE SERVICE.

9. Service Availability

• We strive to maintain the Service's availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access.
• We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time with reasonable notice.
• Planned maintenance will be communicated in advance when possible.

10. Termination

• You may stop using the Service at any time by disconnecting the MCP server from your AI assistant or by calling the LogoutFromMcp tool, which revokes all your refresh tokens.
• We may terminate your access if you violate these Terms.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec, Canada.
